Job Profile for Medical Administrator Virtual Second Medical Opinion, Chennai
1.0 The job requirement is immediate.
2.0 To be totally in-charge and coordinate all clinical matters and associated administrative and technical issues, with regards to the new initiative Virtual Second Medical Opinion to commence in Chennai from 15th October 2014.
3.0 The Medical Administrator should have an MBBS / BDS / B.Sc. Nursing / M.Sc. Nursing / Homeopathy / Ayurveda / Unani, with at least 3 to 5 years of clinical experience which could include healthcare administration. The preferred candidate would be one wishing to take up healthcare administration / health management as a career and has familiarity and interest in ICT. Retiring / just-retired candidates with an interest and some familiarity with technology can also be considered.
4.0 Previous experience in the Apollo health system, or currently working within the Apollo health system and looking for a challenging career growth opportunity, embracing cutting-edge information and communication technology would be an additional asset.
5.0 The candidate should necessarily be in this assignment for a minimum period of at least one year.

7.0 The Medical Administrator VSMO will primarily be responsible for all VSMO operations in Chennai and will primarily report to Dr. K. Ganapathy, President, ATNF and also to Mr. Vikram Thaploo, CEO, ATHS.
8.0 The staff of ATNF Chennai will initially help the candidate and familiarize the candidate with the various departments / sections and individuals in the Apollo Hospitals Group with whom the candidate has to constantly liaise.
9.0 Specific details of the job:
9.1. To liaise with, meet and explain the concept of Virtual Second Medical Opinion (VSMO) to all consultants in the Apollo Hospitals Group in Chennai and to prepare a list of those consultants who are willing to be a member of the VSMO panel. To obtain CVs of all these consultants in the manner prescribed and ensure that they are constantly updated and sent to CEO, ATHS Hyderabad.
9.2. To receive all requests for Virtual Second Medical Opinion (VSMO) electronically and through courier from patients / family physicians / consultants, initially from patients coming to the Apollo Hospitals in Chennai and later on from patients from any of the Apollo Hospitals Group or outside the group in India or overseas.

9.3. To be the SPOC (single point of contact) for all activities in connection with VSMO. This will include answering queries raised by prospective users and all stakeholders in the VSMO initiative.
9.4. To maintain meticulous electronic documentation of all these requests as per template to be provided by ATHS Hyderabad. The candidate will spend 2 to 3 days in ATHS Hyderabad for an orientation program.
9.5. To oversee the fixation of specific timings and appointments for virtual tele-consultations under VSMO, and ensure that they are carried out smoothly, within the prescribed turnaround time.
9.6. To ensure that the patient and the consultant (or board, as the case may be) is informed about the date and time for the VSMO (the candidate will be assisted by existing clerical staff).
9.7. To implement preventive measures, if required (in consultation with the existing staff of ATNF Chennai), to ensure that all consultations take place seamlessly and smoothly.
9.8. To troubleshoot and initiate corrective measures, if required (initial training and coaching will be provided), to ensure that all VSMOs take place smoothly.
9.9. To ensure that all VSMOs which have taken place are meticulously recorded.
9.10. To ensure that feedback is obtained from all the stakeholders in the manner described.
9.11. To ensure that the appropriate specialist / board is chosen to give a second medical opinion (where no specific consultant has been identified by the patient / relative) based on the clinical history and requirements. Initially, this can be done with the guidance of Dr. KG.
9.12. To interact with specialists / board members and the teams in various Apollo Hospitals who are executing the VSMO initiative in their respective hospitals, as and when required, to ensure that an VSMO takes place smoothly.
9.13. To carry out any other specific task assigned by Mr. Vikram Thaploo, CEO, ATHS Hyderabad, after keeping Dr. KG informed.
