a) Administration and day to day reporting for Microbiology (including Infection Control, and Serology)
b) Ensure compliance w.r.t to accreditation requirements.
a) Microscopy, automated and manual culture identification and susceptibility reporting and interpretation.
b) Ensure results consistent with specimen type, organism isolated and clinical details.
Serology and Clinical Pathology:
c) Microscopy, reporting, clinical correlation and interpretation of all tests.
d) Monitoring work performed in the laboratory to determine that medically reliable data are being generated.
e) Mobilizing verification of critical, unusual and abnormal test results before release.
f) Interpret, correlate and provide consultation for medical significance of clinically generated laboratory data.
g) Authorization of reports.
h) Attending general phone queries related to test enquiries and interpretation.
i) Review and suggest improvements in SOPs for use in the sections of Microbiology, and Serology.
j) Ensure results are reported within turnaround time with the help of section head.
k) Interaction with clinicians/patients for queries regarding interpretation of reports and suggestions.
l) Generate epidemiological data with respect to positivist and resistance patterns from the specimens received in the laboratory.
m) Review and improvement of report formats.
n) Performance evaluation of the respective section.
o) Analyze and document complaints and ensure corrective and preventive action.
p) Internal training of staff.
q) Training of laboratory staff with regards to current and new tests in dept. (Sales/Accession etc.)
r) To identify new equipment, tests, technology, products and standardization of assays.
